MINUTES OF THE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Monday 9 January 2017

Kendricks Close, Hartshorne

 

PRESENT - Councillors – A Jones (Chair), D Jenkinson, R Bell,  Mrs J Burley, Mrs M Mycock, Mrs L Vale, P Redfern, Mrs J Slawson, D Tagg, P Smith (left at 8.00 pm at item 136/17) and D West

 

APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE - Councilors - I Harper, Mrs K Coe, N Jenkinson  and PCSO D Badham-Spalding  and District Councillors Mrs G Farrington & S Taylor. 

 

ALSO PRESENT – R Smith Clerk to the Parish Council and County Councillor Mrs L Chilton (left at 8.00 pm at item 136/17).

 

 

 

             

Prior to the commencement of the meeting the Chairman presented a 'Certificate of

Appreciation'' to Mr Leslie 'Bronc' Whetton  in  recognition of his dedication over many years voluntarily maintaining the gardens at Kendricks Close, Hartshorne.  His hard work has provided assistance and given pleasure to many residents over the years, for which the Parish Council  is truly grateful.

District Council reports

None

 

County Council report

1.    County Councillor Mrs L Chilton reported on the state of Tower Road with the pavements in a poor state of repair and a large number of potholes on the road. The Clerk said he had written to DCC but to date had had no response.

2.    County Councillor Mrs L Chilton reported DCC had been allocated improvement funding for Granville School.

3.    County Councillor Mrs L Chilton said she will be pursuing the petition put forward by HVRA requesting speed calming along all parts of the village. The Parish Council would prefer VAS to be installed along with greater involvement from the speed watch volunteers.

4.    County Councillor Mrs L Chilton reported that the funding for Salisbury Drive for improvements for the football facility was now progressing with the County Council. She said she hoped the Parish Council would be in a position to help with any additional funding required. The Chairman said that the Parish Council would consider any application made by the football club.

MINUTES OF THE Ordinary Meeting on held on  Monday 12 December.                                              

The minutes were then  approved as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

 

Matter arising

The Chairman said that he would submit his observations in respect of the grass verge on Ticknall Road under item 125/16.

POLICE MATTERS                                                                                                                                

1. A written report had been submitted highlighting 2 recent thefts of caravan batteries.

 MATTERS ARISING    1. The Clerk presented a monthly update on all outstanding matters; this is attached to the  minutes.

 

2. Following a short debate it was proposed by the Chairman and seconded by Councillor Mrs J Burley that the Parish Council meetings should be on the 3rd Monday in the month (except August) starting in May

RESOLVED unanimously that Parish Council holds its meeting on the 3rd Monday of each month (no meeting in August) wef May 2017. .

HIGHWAYS, PAVEMENTS & PUBLIC FOOTPATHS

1.     Councillor Mrs Burley reported that several street lights on Goseley Estate were not working, these have all been reported to DCC.

2.     There were 2 street lights not working on Repton Road RESOLVED Clerk to report.

3.     There were 2 lights on Main Street not working

PARISH NEWSLETTER AND WEBSITE                                                                                                 

1. The Chairman did ask Councillors to put for idea's for articles in the Parish newsletter which goes out in April.

RECREATION GROUNDS & ALLOTMENTS.                                                                                                

1. It was reported that the repairs required at the changing rooms at Goseley recreation ground had still not been carried out.

REPORTS FROM OUTSIDE BODIES

1. Councillor Mrs J Burley reported that work had to commenced on phase 1 it was hoped it would be finished by the end of January. Councillor Mrs J Burley reported that funding of £18000.00 had now been received from DCC.
