MINUTES OF THE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

19 March 2018

PRESENT - Councillors – A Jones, (Chair), Mrs M Mycock,  D Jenkinson, P Smith, Mrs K Coe, R Bell, D Tagg, J Burley, Mrs J Slawson, D West and, N Jenkinson.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION                                                                                                                             

District Council report

Councillor  Mrs K  Coe reported that there was a good attendance at the Speedwatch training held recently at Swadlincote Police station and it was hoped to start speed checks in early April. County Council report

The Clerk reported that County Councillor L Chilton was still in discussions with Midway FC. It was also raised that speeding along Manchester Lane was discussed with DCC however they were unable to make any recommendations as there was insufficient data to show that there was a problem in the area.

The minutes were approved as  a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

POLICE MATTERS                                                                                                                                       

1.    No Police present and no written report. Councilllor Mrs Coe said that the Police should now be submitting a written report if unable to attend.

 MATTERS ARISING                                                                                                                                    

1.    The Clerk presented a monthly update on all outstanding matters; this is attached to the minutes.      

2.    The Clerk reported that he had had a positive report from the National Forest. The next step in the process was to consult with DCC about design and cost of new signage.

 HIGHWAYS, PAVEMENTS & PUBLIC FOOTPATHS

1.    Councillor Mrs Burly reported that fly tipping in and around The Cutting was still a major problem. Councillor  Mrs K  Coe  said she once again raise the problem with SDDC.

2.    Councillor West said that there were now large potholes at both ends of Dunnsmoor Lane. RESOLVED Clerk to contact DCC.

3.    Residents have once again problems with parking at Hartshorne School with lorries mounting pavements. This is a matter for County Councillor Mrs Chilton to discuss with DCC.

PARISH NEWSLETTER AND WEBSITE                                                                                                       

1.     Councillor N Jenkinson reported that he continues to keep the web site up to date with the Bingo at the Dethick Hall  and the Easter Egg hunt being the most recent additions. 

2.     Councillor N Jenkinson said that he had now received several articles for the Parish Newsletter and he hoped to get a draft copy to the printers early next week with delivery starting over the Easter holiday. The Chairman thanked all those who had contributed.

RECREATION GROUNDS & ALLOTMENTS

1.    The Clerk reported that the Lengthsman will continue to monitor the Changing rooms at Goseley.

2.    The Chair reported that new gates at Dunsmore Way had been erected nearer o the road at the entrance to the recreation ground to try and stop travellers using the grass verge.

3.    The Chair also reported graffiti some of the play equipment on Salisbury Drive. RESOLVED Clerk to contact SDDC.
