The Annual Parish Meeting presents an
opportunity for Hartshorne parishioners to hear about activities within the
Parish during the last 12 months. A report will be presented by the Parish
Council Chairman to include the Council’s finances. Reports will also be
received from clubs and organisations operating within the Parish.
Parishioners may bring to the meeting any local issues of
general concern.
Parish
Council, Chairman’s Comments
Two of our members have resigned due to
other commitments, and we have co-opted one new Councillor. I thank all our
members for their work during the year.
Issues have been raised with both County
and District Council representatives, and we have made representations on
planning applications when we believed that they would have
an effect on the local community. We also responded to the District
Council’s recent consultation on the local plan and sought to have Leewood
Valley recorded as an asset of community value.
We have maintained the three recreation
grounds within the Parish and the Summer Activities Scheme will be returning
this summer. As part of the late Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, we
installed a commemorative bench on each of the recreation grounds. We have also
purchased and installed two new notice boards at Kendricks Close and Goseley
Community Centre.
A meeting was held with representatives
of our local allotment holders and proposals have been drawn up for some
improvements to the allotments.
We are currently in the process of
obtaining quotations for a traffic activated speed sign which could be used at a number of locations in the Parish.

Potholes within the parish can be reported directly to DCC at this web address. https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/transport-roads/roads-traffic/road-maintenance/potholes/potholes.aspx

Fouling
Dog fouling within the Parish is one of
the most common complaints received by the Parish Council. The Parish Council
would like to remind all dog owners of their responsibility to bag up all their
dog mess and deposit it in their black bin or one of the public bins located at
various locations around the Parish.

Hartshorne
Charities (Registered Charity No. 236972)
The Parish is fortunate to have a Charity solely for the benefit of residents of Hartshorne Parish. It dates to 1626 when the Rev. Dethick left property and money for the benefit of the poor. Over the years other likeminded residents have made donations and in the 1960’s the individual sums of money were amalgamated by the Charity Commissioner to form Hartshorne Charities.
The Trustees meet quarterly to consider requests for grants, students who are studying a level 4 course, and attending a recognised university can apply for a grant towards books and equipment needed for their studies, as can people taking a recognised apprenticeship.
The Trustees consider grants for those in genuine need, who may have an emergency expense, and are residents of the Hartshorne Ecclesiastical Parish (Grants cannot be given for regular/recurring expenses). The Ecclesiastical Parish covers all residences between Sandcliffe Road and Heath Lane, Boundary, situated South of the A511. Should you require assistance please submit your request in writing to the Secretary Sue Shakespeare, email:- hcharities@hartshorne.org.uk.
Over the last few years, the Charity has supported the local food banks and the three primary/junior schools serving the parish.
