Census
A comprehensive
census of population recording names, occupation, ages, birthplaces
etc. was taken every 10 years from 1841 to the present. Every one
present in a parish is listed wherever they happened to be on census
night, including women, children, servants, visitors, lodgers, those
in institutions, pedler's , tramps, sailors on ships etc.). Those
up to and including 1891 are generally available for research.

Church of Jesus Christ Latter Days Saints (Mormons) have compiled
a CD-Rom index containing information for over 30 million individuals
from England, Wales and Scotland.
